Musings ..

Town Hall Great month so far. May-June is best time for us since we have too many occasions to celebrate. Both our birthdays and anniversary fall in the same period. Things like our first car and possession of our first house together also fall during the same period. Nice coincidence. So to celebrate all these events, been on a shopping spree. Got myself a new Samsung S3 4G. Nice phone and best with the 4G reception. It really feels as good as being on wi-fi. Also since we are still so new in Sydney there are loads and loads of places and opportunities to explore. Working in CBD has been good as I get to experience the city feel. With the trains bustling with people on peak times and the lunch hour frenzy at the food courts. The sleek shopping areas and sleeker people. Loving it all. Few snaps of the Pitt street mall and Town hall areas in the vicinity.

New Beginnings ...

Until last year it was only moving houses in the same city .. this year it was a complete transformation .. shifted to a new city, new country - Sydney, Australia. Although it's an enormous change, am taking it in small steps .. that way it does not overwhelm you .. :) We are here on a PR visa getting which in itself is a time and energy consuming episode. After an year of getting all the paperwork done, we received our PR last June. Since then started the preparatory phase. Apart from the mental and emotional preparations, it also required lot of financial and career wise preparations. Landed in Sydney on 20th Feb and it's been a roller coaster ride ever since .. :) he job hunt, interview preparations, understanding the new market has all been really challenging. From aligning your resume to the market here to getting into contractual jobs - which is how the market here mostly works. Its all been a far cry from what happens in India. Getting the first job they say is tough in...

Nashik - a historic visit ..

Image
Its really funny. I've spent my entire school and junior college years in Nashik and yet there are places in Nashik where I've never been. Strange enough some of these places are really famous like the Sundar Narayan Temple or Sita Guha. So this vacation I spent a couple of days in my hometown - Nashik to actually see the places for which Nashik is famous. Nashik is considered to be a very ancient settlement with stories and events from the holy epic Ramayana having happened here. There are many temples around the area known as 'Panchvati' which is considered to be holy land. I visited the Sundar Narayan temple on the Godavari river banks. It is said that on the day of equinox in March, the Sun rays directly fall at the feet of the idol here. Its a very beautiful temple but sadly not very well maintained. From the temple we went onward to the river banks also known as Goda (short for Godavari river) Ghat. Here too there are several temples - one specific w...

2.0.1.2

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year 2012 .... Time to stop by and think how 2011 went. Mine was a great year. Many amazing memories, many dreams which came true. 2012 is here with a whole new set of ideas and expectations. New heights to achieve, new places to visit ... Looking forward for another wonderful year ....

Winters ...

My favorite season of the year ... Sitting in my balcony and having hot 'chai' has never felt so good .. :) Unfortunately been too busy at work hence haven't been able to make any outing in last few weeks. But looking forward for something interesting during Christmas and New year. Temperature in Pune is going around 10-12C now. The roads get deserted around 8:30-9:00pm. Less traffic woes for me as this is my usual time of travelling back from office .. :) Early mornings in gym are also blissfully less crowded. Carrots, apples, peas and pears all in abundance. Waiting for grapes and strawberries now .. :) May be I should head to Mahabaleshwar for the strawberries in the coming weeks now ... :)

Time flies by ...

My first blog of this year .... but its already too late to say 'Happy New Year' now .. :) Just wondering where time flies by.  Its end of winter and spring is here. Looks like time for another vacation .. :) Wondering where to go as the ruthless summer would be soon upon us. Need to head up north somewhere in search of some cool air and peace ... :)

Re-awakening

4 years, 6 months and 3days ... this is what it took me to come back to this page ... Gosh!! .. what was I thinking?? ... or rather what was I doing all this time?? Hmm .. well for starters ... I got married .. :) But even then it seems like these 4 years have simply vanished. Are we in some kind of time machine? .. which seems to be running in a fast forward mode?? Ok .. things are coming back to me now ... I had been to one onsite trip, changed 2 jobs and afcourse there was this bad recession. I've made quite a few trips and attended many weddings. And yes I've changed 3 houses!! ... that did take up a whole lot of time. I can only be thankful, I've not had to change cities. In my usual day-to-day routine I always forget to take stock of what I have have done so far. But if I sit and think, looks like I have been doing quite a lot of things. Ohh .. but as always the list of things 'to do' is always huge and getting bigger all the ...

Summers

Sometimes I suddenly feel that I've grown too old!! .. :(  I fondly remember my college and school days. What fun days, specially with summers approaching ... :)  There is this different scent in the air. On a warm morning (can be only on a weekend ...n now-a-days only a sunday!!) you just sit back and close your eyes and all those memories come rushing to you. That typical summer air, a breif scent of water on hot sand, summer birds ... basically HOLIDAYS!! ... :). I feel like I am back in school and just a few more days and before I'll be making my summer plans. Day in day out with freinds ... playing all silly stupid games swimming afcourse .. :)  That reminds me ... gotta get myself enroled for the summer batch .. :) splash!!! ....

Marriage!!

Had a very busy weekend .. what with relatives and shopping!! :):( ..  I mean I love shopping but then this is really different. S hadi ki shopping!! Thats what I have been doing past couple of days and belive me its pretty boring. Specially with Mom around, she just loves shopping. In past 2 days I must have seen all varieties of sarees made by mankind. A nd its really hard to tell the difference. For me, all are just the same. Thankfully its over .. :)  I let mom decide my sarees. Anyways I am damn sure I am never going to wear them once this function is over. So its finally going to be added to her ever growing wardrobe. But these shopping trips with mom and relatives has left me with all mixed feelings. Its kind of a realisation that I'm about to do something which would be changing certain things permanantly. I know my would be husband since past three years and its not about him. Rather he too is in the same dilema as me. Be...

Dream Theme

How accomplished am I?? Do you ever ask this to your self? There are so many things that I have always wanted to do, but somehow I never find time for them. And then I see people who manage time so nicely. They work as long as I do, yet they manage to wear pressed cloths every other day. Yet they manage to play some sport, read their favorite book. Every new year I make a resolution that I am going to bring some semblance of dicipline in my life. That I am going to be regular at the gym. That I'll dress well to the office. That I will .... :D the list is endless like always. Sometimes I wonder do i put myself uneccessarily under pressure? for wanting to do things. But then another thought pops up. If not now then, when will I do all that I've always wanted to do .. :) I got a question for people my age .. Are you all also equally confused as I am?? .. :) Guess even if you are not, by now I've surely confused you!! .. :) wel...

Thanda thanda cool cool

Swimming is my favorite sport. Specially during summers. Its such a wonder full cool feeling to be in water. But probably swimming is enjoyable only to those who know how to swim. I can say this because once I was on the other side of the door. When I was very young, my parents tried to teach me swimming. We had this early morning family batch. They self tutored me but I had an immense dread of water. Once I remember an incident which resulted in my parents never again trying to teach me to swim. It were some summer holidays and our usual family batch. My dad had been forcing me to leave the wall and try to swim in the middle of the pool. But I was so damn afraid that I did not let that side bar go. Finally he pulled me and took me on his back and started swimming towards the deeps. I started shouting loudly and hitting him (yaa I did hit him I remember.. but worst is yet to come). But he was in no mood to leave me. As an last resort, I bit him hard on his back. ouch!!! bit my dad??!!.....

Sunday the Funday

Sunday the Funday .. well not so much for me. I'm in office. But our office isn't that much a bad place. You get to surf a lot on the net, free coffee. Food isn't all that bad either. But still I hate to be in the office on a sunday. Saturday I may not mind that much but sunday???!! Since school sundays are supposed to be special. Back at home both parents had a holiday. So it was a feast day. We surely had something sweet for lunch. Again in college, sunday we used to go out for lunch to escape the boring monotony of hostel mess. All in all sundays have always been fundays. Also before the advent of this cable network, we had a lot of cartoons and children programs on DD on sundays. We used to look forward for this rare TV viewings. So looking forward to next biiig weekend now.
